Bipolar
Hero
A memoir of hope, resilience
and life rebuilt
Dear Reader,
This is a mental health memoir about overcoming bipolar disorder. I was hospitalized three times in a psychiatric child ward because of severe mania and psychosis. The first time was when I was just eighteen years old — a kid — and I spent one month there.
There was a time I stood on the lowest rung of life’s ladder, swallowed by the heaviest, darkest thoughts, feeling hopeless and desperate. Living with bipolar disorder all these years, and doing my best every day, I have learned how to live a steady life without extreme highs and lows. It takes discipline to stay in remission and not fall into episodes of mania or depression, but it is possible.
Today, I am grateful for every day. I live a happy life with my son Adam and my wife Maria — a life filled with understanding, love, and peace. I have made mistakes in the past, but I’ve also learned many lessons.
I want to share my experience with you. If my story helps even one person, then the purpose of this book has been fulfilled. I hope you enjoy this account of my life and my journey with bipolar disorder. More than that, I hope it inspires those who struggle to believe that a stable, fulfilling life is possible.
